Recorded: April 16th, 2016
What happens when you mix Minecraft and The Jungle Book? You get season 2 of Sun Vulcan with Rubix cubes and animal cosplay. Actually, you get a pretty compelling start to a Sentai season that begins with a brief exploration of another world full of humanoid animals before diving into a story that sees our characters dealing with being fish out of water (sorry, Sela) while fending off a sadistic group of alien invaders that sees Earth as a giant arcade game.
Join the podcast crew as we talk about our thoughts on the first 9 episodes of Zyuohger, from our favorite characters to what we hope to see in future episodes of the series.

Low Visibility #2: Kamen Rider Black
Sunday Apr 10, 2016
Sunday Apr 10, 2016
Hello, TokuNet! Our show for Spring tackles a classic of 80s tokusatsu, Kamen Rider Black!
Recorded: March 23rd, 2016
Long before Heisei Rider brought the franchise to annual prominence and unprecedented toy sales success, Toei briefly revived Kamen Rider for the 1980s with Kamen Rider Black. Starring Tetsuo Kurata, this memorable franchise entry combined classic Rider franchise tropes with a very 1980s fascination with apocalyptic themes, the occult, and conspiracy theories. We'll discuss all this in more detail in this very show, along with:
- Extensive series spoilers!
- Kamen Rider Black RX spoilers, too!
- That moment when we briefly forget the podcast's email address!
* Note: spoilers may not be entirely accurate. Settling may occur
As always, Low Visibility is an unscripted discussion podcast where your hosts, Lynxara and MattComix, discuss vintage tokusatsu. We like to talk about what works (and doesn’t work) in a show, compare it to other series, answer Twitter questions, and make cheap jokes.
If you enjoyed this TokuNet podcast offering, please consider leaving a review on iTunes or Stitcher. Reviews increase the podcast’s visibility (ho ho) and make it easier to find. You can also consider leaving a tip for our fine hosts at TokuNet by clicking here. Even as little as $1 helps cover TokuNet’s expenses and fund more in-depth news coverage.

TokuNet Podcast #00 – Kamen Rider: The Next
Friday Apr 01, 2016
Friday Apr 01, 2016
In this bonus episode of the TokuNet Podcast, one man does the impossible by reviewing 2007's Kamen Rider: The Next.
And by impossible, we mean that David was literally the only person that wanted to do it.
As the sequel to 2005's Kamen Rider: The First, The Next gave fans a bit of hope that this would improve on an overall decent film. The result was quite the contrary. Most fans panned the movie for many reasons, the most common being the J-horror element that seemed to dominate the main plot.
However, one person loved the film (shocking, isn't it?), and we decided to give him the stage to share his views. Join David as he gives a quick rundown of the plot of the movie before diving into what he enjoyed about Kamen Rider: The Next.

Recorded: March 18th, 2016
Ultraman fans around the world have been treated to a number of English-subtitled shows appearing on legal streaming sites such as Crunchyroll and ShoutFactory TV in the past couple of years. But 2015 marked a first for tokusatsu in the west. The most recent entry in the Ultraman franchise, Ultraman X, became the first tokusatsu series to be simulcast with English subtitles. Many fans tuned in each week to follow the adventures of Daichi, Ultraman X, and the attack team Xio.
Now that the series has completed its run, the podcast crew has assembled to talk about their favorite parts of Ultraman X. We talk about which characters became our favorite throughout the show, the most standout episodes of the season, and speculate the future of the franchise among many other topics.
This time around, we're joined by special guest Jared Foust of Lobsterdance Productions. You can check out the works of Lobsterdance Productions (which Yasin is also a part of) on their Vimeo page and be sure to like their Facebook page for updates on upcoming projects.

Join Team TokuNet as we watch and review the first 13 episodes of 1991's Chojin Sentai Jetman!
Recorded: February 20, 2016
Since the podcast crew normally reviews currently airing tokusatsu TV shows and movies, we thought it would be fun to pick a past series and watch it as a group. We'll watch the selected show in batches and review each batch of episodes every few months. The first series that we'll tackle is Jetman.
Chojin Sentai Jetman is set in the relative future and focuses on a global defense agency as they attempt to create a team of superhuman warriors to protect the Earth. Unfortunately, the evil organization known as Vyram sabotages this plan by destroying their base of operations. It is now up to Director Aya Odagiri and Officer Ryo Tendo to assemble a new team of heroes to battle this new threat.
